Privacy policy

Space Command collects nothing. Your files stay on your Mac.
What the app reads
The folders you choose in Settings › Folders, and nothing else on your disk.
The Clipboard tab reads the text you copy, so it can offer to fix it: while the panel is open, or all the time if you turn on Keep copies while the panel is closed in Settings › Clipboard. Copies that a password manager marks as private are never read. macOS may ask you before the app reads the clipboard.
What the app stores
An index of your folders, your settings, and an undo journal. They live in ~/Library/Application Support/Space Command/ and the app’s preferences.
- The index is a cache of what the app found in your files. It can be rebuilt from them at any time.
- The undo journal keeps the lines the app changed, as they were before, so it can put them back.
- Clipboard copies are kept in memory only, and are gone when you quit.
- Your licence key, once you buy one, is kept in
licence.txtin the same folder. It holds your name, email address, and order number, signed so the app can check it.
What the app writes
Your files change only when you act: ticking off a task, moving your focus, or starting a post. Before it writes, the app checks the file hasn’t changed since it read it, then changes only the lines it needs to. You can undo the change.
Network
There are no accounts, analytics, ads, or crash reporting, and no cloud copy of anything.
If you allow it, the app checks space-command.ca for updates. The check sends the app’s version number, plus your IP address, as any web request does. It sends nothing about your files or your Mac. The app asks before the first check, and you can turn checking off again.
Buying a licence
Planned for launch: licences sold through Paddle, the merchant of record. Paddle is the seller on your receipt, and the charge shows under its name on your statement.
- At checkout you give Paddle your email address, payment details, and country (sometimes a postcode, for tax). Paddle controls that data, under its privacy notice. Your card details never reach me.
- I receive your name, email address, order number, and what you bought, to make your licence key. The key is emailed to you through an email service, which sees your name, email address, and key. I keep no database of buyers; Paddle’s records are the only copy.
- Paddle sends your receipt, and I send one email with your key. No marketing email.
- The app checks your key on your Mac, with no activation, device ID, or check-in. Licensing sends nothing.
- Refunds go through Paddle. After a refund, a later version of the app goes back to the free demo. Nothing is deleted.
Backups
If your Mac backs up with Time Machine or another tool, the app’s data is included like any other app’s.
Deleting your data
Quit the app and move it to the Trash. Then delete ~/Library/Application Support/Space Command/ and ~/Library/Preferences/ca.space-command.SpaceCommand.plist. Your own files are untouched.
This website
No cookies, analytics, or tracking scripts. Once licences are on sale, the buy page will load Paddle’s checkout, which may set Paddle’s own cookies there; the rest of the site stays cookie-free. The web host keeps standard server logs (IP address, page, time, and browser) to keep the site running.
Contact
Questions or suggestions: support@space-command.ca. If you write, I’ll see your name and email address. I use them only to reply, never for a mailing list, and I’ll delete the thread if you ask.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version goes on this page with a new date at the top. If the app ever starts collecting anything, this page will say so before that version ships.
