␣⌘Licence

How a licence looks in the app, where the demo's limit shows, and how you buy one. Proposed, 2026-10-19; the design and its open questions are in docs/design/licensing/proposal.md. Everything here is clickable.

Settings › Licence

Paste into the demo's field:
Demo
The last tab, since it's set once. Add Licence wakes up only when the field holds a key, so a problem is said once, under the field, never in an alert. Add Licence switches this window to Licensed, at once.
Licensed
Who it's for, which edition, and when. Remove Licence… asks first, and says nothing is deleted.
Beta
A beta build with a beta key. The date is the build's 30th day, not a date in the key.

The link in the email

spacecommand://licence?key=… opens Settings › Licence with the key in the field and asks. A link can come from anywhere, so it never adds a licence on its own.
Remove Licence… (from Licensed). Destructive, so it isn't the default: Cancel is.

The demo's limit

Three candidates, each at the moment you reach it. B is the recommendation: it's useful, it names what a licence adds, and it hides nothing.

B · Five projectsRecommended
All projects lists the five, then one Dim line. Click it for the others, each with Follow Instead (on hover) and Buy a Licence…. It closes again on the next visit. Today, Tasks, Ideas, Posts and the scope menu show the five.
B · A project you don't follow yet
Reached from a Reveal link or a search. Its name and health still show; its tasks wait for Follow Instead or a licence.
A · One folder
Settings › Folders after + with one folder granted. Simple, but granting ~ gets you everything, so it barely limits.
C · Tasks only
Posts and Clipboard come with a licence. Shown faded behind the card. It reads as a lock, which principle 6 rules out.

About

In the demo, the line is a Sage link to Settings › Licence. The store build shows no line.
Licensed: one Dim line, nothing to click.

Buying

Buy Space Command

One payment. Every 1.x update. No account, and the app still sends nothing.

Personal$10One person, all their Macs
Team$50Up to 10 people
space-command.ca/buy/. Buy opens the merchant's checkout over the page. Team and Personal each have a Buy; one shown.

Thanks, Bruce.

Here's your licence key. It's in your email too.

The thank-you page asks the signer for the key by its order. Open in Space Command is the spacecommand://licence link.
From Space Command <keys@space-command.ca>Subject Your Space Command licence

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for buying Space Command. Click this to add your licence:

Add the licence to Space Command

Or copy this key into Settings › Licence:

Keep this email. If you lose it, Find My Key on space-command.ca sends it again.

The key email. Plain, with the link first and the key under it.

Find My Key

Enter the email you bought with. We'll send every key for it there.

The same answer whether or not the address bought, so the page never says who did.

Beta builds (later)

From day 27: one banner under the focus card, since focus always comes first. It doesn't come back once you've updated.
After day 30: everything still shows. A write is refused in place, as other refusals are.
