0.113.0 lets a section or a file be the focus. This mock covers the two blocks it left out. The first is a project's whole group, which has no heading to tag. The second is a phase of PLAN.md, which draws its own line, not a section heading. Right-click a project's name or a phase's line in the panel to open its menu. The pane on the right shows what's written.
Proposed: a project's whole group
Focus Project leads the group line's right-click menu, on Today and All tasks, then Go to Project and Squash Done as now. It reads Remove Focus once set. In the project's own scope, the scope menu's project line offers it too.
The card shows the project: its name, "N open tasks in M files", and "Next: …". Next is the project's own top task: its card focus if it has one, then the highest priority, then the most recently changed file, then file order. A click on Next opens that line. There's no box to tick.
It doesn't end on its own. A project rarely runs out of tasks, so it lasts until Remove Focus, or until another focus is put ahead of it in the queue.
It joins the queue with the usual Focus Now · Focus Next ask, and its group leads Today, as a focus's group does now.
Where it's kept is the open call (question 76). Flip A, B and C above to compare them. A, kept by the app (recommended): nothing is written. It's attention, not content: closer to picking a scope than to tagging a task. It's lost by Settings › Advanced › Reset, and Obsidian doesn't see it. B, its task file: the bare #focus line goes into the project's PLAN.md (or TODO.md), as Focus File does. Other tools see it, but then it's that file's focus, not the project's. C, its .spacecommand.toml: focus = true in the project's config. It's in a file, but in the repo's config, so every focus change is a git diff in the project.
Proposed: a phase of PLAN.md
Focus Phase leads a phase line's right-click menu, then Squash Done. It reads Remove Focus once set.
It writes what you'd type:#focus at the end of the phase's ## heading, as Focus Section does. Phase names drop the tag, so the line still reads "Phase 18 · Licensing", with a #focus chip after it.
The focused phase opens and leads the plan, above the current phase, which stays open beside it. The card shows the block: "Phase 18 · Licensing", "space-command · PLAN.md · N open tasks", and Next.
It ends with its last open task. As for a section, that tick also takes the #focus off the heading, in one ⌘Z.
